THE UK STANDARD
NAMA Sets a New Standard, Welcomed by the VRA
In response to the growing data privacy challenge facing UK vehicle remarketing, the National Association of Motor Auctions (NAMA) has introduced the Data Deletion and Privacy Protection Certification, the first standard of its kind for the industry, welcomed by the Vehicle Remarketing Association (VRA).
To be certified, members must meet ten requirements. Each one is designed to make sure personal and sensitive data is removed from vehicles reliably and verifiably before resale. Auction operators, compliance specialists and technology providers developed the standard together.

GDPR Compliance: Your Obligation to Delete Personal Data from Vehicles
GDPR requires organizations to delete personal data from vehicles using objective technical measures when the car changes hands (i.e. remarketing, resale, repossession, car sharing, total loss, and more).
Passing the vehicle to another user without erasure of the personal data held on its systems could amount to unlawful processing and a personal data breach.
